Dechert expands fund formation practice in London

The law firm has tapped a Travers Smith PE partner to build out its fund formation practice in London.

Dechert has hired private equity fund lawyer Sam Kay as a partner in London.

Kay joins Dechert’s financial services and investment management practice from Travers Smith, where he spent 25 years, most recently as a partner. He specializes in PE fund formation across a range of PE-style strategies from venture, infrastructure, energy, transition funds, and buyout.

At Travers Smith, Kay was head of the investment funds group, where he worked across a variety of sectors including private equity, infrastructure, private debt and real estate, as well as for a range of institutional investor clients.
