Dechert has hired private equity fund lawyer Sam Kay as a partner in London.
Kay joins Dechert’s financial services and investment management practice from Travers Smith, where he spent 25 years, most recently as a partner. He specializes in PE fund formation across a range of PE-style strategies from venture, infrastructure, energy, transition funds, and buyout.
Kay has advised across a broad range of strategies over the years including GP-led transactions, continuation funds, real estate and infrastructure. The firm said Kay will support its clients on both the fund formation and PE side.
At Travers Smith, Kay was head of the investment funds group, where he worked across a variety of sectors including private equity, infrastructure, private debt and real estate, as well as for a range of institutional investor clients.
