Hamilton Lane appoints new CFO and treasurer

The alternative asset manager’s current CFO is retiring after 22 years with the firm.

Hamilton Lane has announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer and treasurer, as the incumbent, Randy Stilman, prepares to retire after 22 years with the alternative asset manager.

Atul Varma will take Stilman’s place on January 6. Stilman will stay on for an undisclosed period in order to effect a smooth transition.

Before joining Hamilton Lane, Varma was head of business strategy and CFO of wealth management at BNY Mellon. Prior to that, he was CFO in various divisions of Bank of America’s wealth management group.

Varma also serves on several boards, including non-profit organization The Partnership, which promotes corporate opportunities for people of color, and the leadership board of Beth Israel Lahey Health, a teaching hospital associated with Harvard Medical School.

Hamilton’s CEO, Mario Giannini, said Stilman had been “a terrific colleague and friend, and our employees, our board of directors and I are grateful to him for his long service and wish him the best.”

Hamilton Lane has about $481 billion in assets under management and supervision.
