StepStone announces latest round of promotions

The private markets investment firm continues to add partners as the firm continues to grow.

Global private markets investment firm StepStone Group announced a number of promotions within the firm, including eight new partners and 18 new managing directors.

Matthew Roche

The promotions spanned roles including private equity, private debt, venture capital and private wealth.

Matthew Roche, who joined StepStone in 2013 and is based in New York, was named partner. He is a member of the private equity team, working across the firm’s private equity secondaries program including in fundraising, sourcing, due diligence and portfolio management. In addition to secondaries, Roche works on StepStone’s mid- and large-market buyouts sector team, for which he is responsible for identifying primary investment opportunities, leading GP relationships and completing investment diligence.

Also named partners in New York were Lisa Larsson, who joined StepStone in 2017 and is a member of the portfolio management team, and Brett Schlemovitz, who joined StepStone in 2022 and is a member of the private wealth team.

David Allen

Dublin-based David Allen was also named partner. He joined StepStone in 2021 and is CEO of StepStone’s Europe alternative investment fund manager and a member of the private debt team.

Two members of the private wealth team in Charlotte were made partners. They are Brad Weltler, who joined the firm in 2019, and Kimberly Zeitvogel, who joined in 2020. John Wuestling, a member of the venture capital and growth equity team in Baltimore, and Fabian Körzendörfer, a member of the private debt team based in Zurich, were also named partners.

The managing director promotions in New York include private equity team members Samar Abbas, Ted Panarese and Clodagh Coghlan, Will Cuddy on the corporate finance and accounting team, David Han on the private debt team, Drew Iadanza in real estate, Cynthia Leon in the tax department and Christopher Velez in business development.

In La Jolla, Elizabeth Ferry on the operational due diligence team and Jaffrey Hoey, Thomas Redmond and Anderson Souza on the portfolio analytics and reporting team were all named managing directors.

Managing director promotions in Baltimore include private equity team members Jennifer Berg and Huff Millard.

Brittney Bauman, a private wealth team member in Charlotte, and Cleveland-based real estate team member Justin Thibault were also promoted to managing director.

StepStone was responsible for $659 billion of total capital, including $146 billion of assets under management, as of September 30, 2023.
