Blackstone dishes on cybersecurity ‘musts’

Blackstone CISO on cybersecurity ‘musts’ for smaller firms; a taste of the upcoming LP Perspectives survey results; GPB revolving-door scandal update.

This will be the last daily email from us until Monday. To our compatriots here in the US: Happy Thanksgiving!

Cybersecurity ‘must-dos’: Blackstone’s chief information security officer, Adam Fletcher, gives smaller firms a few tips on the essentials of cybersecurity. Speaking with Brian Bonilla, Fletcher also touches on cyber-insurance and what security issues keep him awake at night.

LP Perspectives: Our full, annual LP Perspectives Survey report will be available to subscribers in December, but for now, we’re drip-feeding some interesting tidbits. First up, most LPs say they’ve asked their GPs for more transparency and disclosure on fees, with 60 percent saying they’re finding fees difficult to justify internally. But not many are planning on getting third-party help for fee validation – a service that some may not even know exists, based on a sample from my own reporting (that article will be included in the upcoming report). That said, CalSTRS is reportedly one of the big hitters that has done just that this year.

GPB lawsuits: Bill Myers updates us on the developing scandal at GPB Capital. Lawyers representing a whistleblower and multiple GPB investors are levying serious allegations at the firm.
